County distributes $4,000 in senior farmer's market coupons and expands mobile market stops

Lona Kelly of the Harvey County Department on Aging told the commission on Aug. 5 that the county distributed all 80 coupon booklets it received through the Kansas Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program, representing $4,000 in assistance for eligible seniors.
Kelly said the office has started a waiting list in case unused coupons are redistributed by other agencies. She also said the Common Ground mobile market has expanded its route this year to include Halstead and Sedgwick on a new schedule (third Wednesday of each month). The mobile market already serves Hesston, Midtown Towers in Newton, and Burton, which Kelly said means senior centers across Harvey County now have access to the program.
