The Harvey County commission on Aug. 12 reappointed Jerry McKinney to a third and final consecutive three‑year term on the county parks advisory board, in accordance with the board’s term limits. Cass presented the recommendation and noted board rules require a one‑year absence after three consecutive terms. The commission also appointed Dr. Lynn Freesting to the Harvey‑Marion County CDDO (Community Developmental Disability Organization) to replace Craig Simons. Commissioners noted Freesting is a retired pediatrician who has lived in Newton since 1990 and was recommended by the CDDO board. Both actions were made by motion, received seconds and passed by voice vote; no further conditions or discussion were recorded on either appointment.
