County sets timelines for telephone and door system upgrades; Pine Street office move planned

County Administrator Kevin told the commission on Aug. 12 that the county has scheduled installation of a new phone system and a new building door access system. Kevin said the vendor tentatively will install phones over a weekend with a planned go‑live date of Sept. 8; staff training and preloading of frequently dialed contacts are underway. A new door control system at the courthouse is scheduled to go live Oct. 8. Once phones are live in September, Kevin said Aging and Planning & Zoning staff will move into the Pine Street building’s first floor. Commissioners discussed meeting logistics and operating costs for regional meetings at the Meridian Center and whether the county should offer to host Quad County meetings at the courthouse to reduce rental costs; county staff later reported a 2024 charge of $248.40 representing the county’s annual portion for Meridian Center use. Kevin also noted the 2024 audit and the appraiser’s compliance audit were completed without violations and the county’s appraiser was prepared to present results to the commission in a forthcoming meeting.
