Resolutions: The clerk read multiple congratulatory resolutions introduced by Senator Joan B. Lovely recognizing local Eagle Scouts. The Senate adopted the resolutions by voice vote.
Sick-leave banks: The Senate took up and passed to be engrossed two House bills establishing sick leave banks: House No. 4104, "An Act establishing a sick leave bank for Daniel Yender, an employee of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation," and House No. 4161, "An Act establishing a sick leave bank for Mark Krapman, employee of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation." Both measures were read a third time and passed to be engrossed by voice vote.
Other procedural actions: The Senate ordered a number of calendar items to third reading by voice vote and received committee reports placing bills on the order of the day, including committee recommendations to substitute new drafts for Senate bills (for example, Senate Nos. 2550 and 2551 were considered with Ways and Means amendments adopted on the floor). The Senate also received committee reports on bills relating to intellectual and developmental disabilities, archaic laws, and a bill addressing police interactions with persons on the autism spectrum; the rules were suspended to take several of those reports up for immediate consideration.
Adjournment and memorial: The Senate observed a moment of silence for Marcus (Mark) Sullivan of Foxborough and adjourned to meet again Monday at 11:00 a.m.
Votes and formal outcomes recorded on the floor included the two sick-leave-bank bills passing to be engrossed and the Senate’s third-reading passage of Senate Nos. 2550 and 2551 (both advanced after floor amendments and recorded roll-call procedures).
