The Paducah Board of Commissioners authorized a municipal order to accept a KPDI (Kentucky Product Development Initiative) grant and to serve as grantee for a speculative industrial building at Industrial Park West, committing the city to provide local match funding up to $6 million. Economic development staff said the state awarded a $2 million KPDI grant toward a project estimated at roughly $8 million for a 100,000-square-foot spec building. “This is a follow-up to previous action that the commission has taken... the state has asked the city to be the recipient of that grant, and also to make a resolution that shows that we will have, in fact, taken the full action, to say that we'll pay up to $6,000,000 of that,” a city staff presenter said. Commissioners previously supported the application and agreed to the local funding commitment; the municipal order formalized that position and designated the city as grantee for the KPDI award. Commissioners asked no substantive questions at the meeting and approved the order by roll call. The municipal order does not change the project scope beyond the city’s prior commitment; it confirms the city will accept the KPDI grant and serve as grantee and that the city will cover the remaining eligible local match up to $6 million if required. No additional contractual text or timeline was presented at the meeting.
