During the Aug. 7 meeting a planning board member reported that Altice (Optimum) has agreed to provide internet service in Clark and that Comcast Xfinity will continue to serve the township. The member said the township has been pursuing additional providers for roughly two and a half years and that the council may know whether a third provider will join by Aug. 18; if so, three internet providers could be available in town by the end of the year.
The remarks came during "new business," which the chair characterized as not planning board business. Board members did not take action on the matter; the report was informational only and no formal municipal approvals were requested or recorded.
The board clarified that Verizon declined to enter the market when contacted, and a member confirmed Altice operates under the Optimum brand. No details about franchise agreements, installation timelines, pricing, or service areas were provided during the meeting.
