Boyle County approves $1.025 million contract to build mountain‑bike park; skate‑park, ballfield and playground upgrades advance
Summary
The Boyle County Fiscal Court on Aug. 12 approved a $1,025,000 design‑build contract for a multiuse mountain‑bike park on a former landfill and advanced a package of parks capital projects including a proposed $400,000 skate park, softball/baseball field rehabs and Millennium Park upgrades.
Danville, Ky. — Boyle County Fiscal Court on Aug. 12 approved a $1,025,000 design‑build contract to develop a multiuse mountain‑bike park and advanced several other parks and recreation capital projects, officials said.
The court voted to award the contract to Parsons Construction after a county review committee recommended the firm as the lowest responsive bidder. County and city staff said the project will be built on a former county landfill and will be configured for multiple users — hikers and riders — with maintenance and scheduling to be handled by Parks and Recreation.
The project lead, Tommy Burton, director of Parks and Recreation, said the mountain‑bike project has broad local input and a committee of city, county and community volunteers guiding design. “That project is moving ahead, with a lot of speed,” Burton told the court. He said the county is relying on outside trail experts and local mountain‑bike coaches for trail layout and design.
