The Clark Township Board of Education on the evening of the meeting approved finance items 103–152 and passed an addendum resolution to hold a board referendum vote on Sept. 16, the board said during a roll-call vote. The motion to approve the finance section and the addendum was made by Board member Small and seconded by Board member May; the motion carried.
The addendum introduced at the meeting was described by board leadership as “a board resolution for the September 16 vote for our board referendum.” During the roll call several members voted yes; one member recorded an abstention on specific line items and on the addendum. “Abstain on 114, 115, 148, 149, and the addendum,” a member said during the roll call.
Board members handled the finance block as a single consent package, covering a broad set of budget and expenditure items numbered 103 through 152. The board chair called for the roll call after a motion and second; votes were recorded individually by name. At the conclusion of the vote the board secretary announced “Motion carried.”
Why it matters: adoption of the addendum sets an official board date and resolution language needed to put the referendum before voters on Sept. 16. The referendum date will determine remaining calendar and public-notice steps required for the district to present the measure to local voters.
What happened next: the meeting proceeded to superintendent and committee reports after the finance motion passed.
Provenance: The discussion introducing the finance block and the addendum appears when the board chair said, “We then have finance items 1 0 3 to 1 52 and addenda item number 1 for finance. And before I get a motion, addenda 1 is a board resolution for the September 16 vote for our board referendum. Can I get a motion? Mister Small followed by mister May.” The roll-call discussion and final “Motion carried” appear later in the same block of the transcript.
