Highway Patrol Retirement System presents 2024 internal audit risk assessment to council

Director O'Rourke presented the Highway Patrol Retirement System’s 2024 internal audit report to the Retirement Study Council on June 12, explaining that HPRS used a comprehensive risk assessment in place of the regular internal audit report template.
O'Rourke said HPRS contracts with the Summit County internal audit department for internal audit functions and security work. “As part of the recommendations from our most recent fiduciary performance audit, HPRS did not contract for the normal internal audit service last year, but completed a comprehensive risk assessment,” O'Rourke said. He said the risk assessment was presented to the HPRS board in December and that an audit plan has been put in place for upcoming years.
The director said HPRS expects the board to approve the scope of work for the 2025 internal audit at its meeting next Friday; that future audit will use the council’s standard reporting template.
Council members had no further questions on the report during the meeting.
