Heather Paul explained the update: "if they hadn't gone out to bid within 2 years that the project would be terminated if they didn't ask for and get an extension from the commission."
Committee staff summarized available funds: after reserving an emergency subfund the amount available for new grants was $67,808,826. The staff recommended awards across categories and system sizes; the committee approved the recommendations without objection.
Members discussed the possibility of reopening applications later this year for a future appropriation cycle; Senator Reese said he intended to seek a later round of applications for a fall submission and scoring for the next appropriation cycle. The committee approved the guidance updates and award recommendations and directed staff to finalize grant documents and notify applicants.
