The House adopted a resolution honoring the 200th anniversary of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in New Bedford after the committee on rules recommended the measure for adoption. Representative David Cabral of New Bedford moved suspension of the rules and the resolution was adopted by voice vote.
Separately, on third reading the House passed “An act validating the results of the special election held in the town of Hardwick on 01/18/2025.” The presiding officer announced the bill was passed to be engrossed after members voted in favor.
Earlier in the session, the committee on steering, policy and scheduling reported a slate of local bills for scheduling and recommended that many be ordered to third reading. Those measures included local charter changes, authorizations for towns to establish fees or grant licenses, and municipal housekeeping items (house bills listed by number and subject in the official calendar). Members also suspended rules to move several bills to second or third reading as shown on the House calendar.
