Derby’s Board of Education approved changes to latchkey program pricing on June 23, increasing several fee tiers and adding a $10 late fee for delinquent payments.

Administrators proposed the adjustment after comparing local fees and noting the district’s rates had not changed recently. Under the approved revisions: a Monday-morning-only rate would rise by $5; morning-only or afternoon-only rates would increase by $15; and full-day latchkey users would see a $10 increase. The board also approved a $10 late fee to encourage timely payment.

The motion passed unanimously, 7-0. Administrators said the fee changes will help align costs with surrounding districts and support the latchkey program’s financial sustainability.
