The Derby Board of Education approved a $66,310 purchase on June 23 for 190 iPads and cases to be used by the special services department.

Pam Kelly, director of finance, presented the purchase and said it will be paid from the special education fund and will reduce the fund’s beginning balance accordingly. The purchase passed by unanimous vote.

Administrators said the devices will support instructional and accommodation needs for special education students; no further implementation details were given at the meeting.
