The Sheffield City Committee approved purchases from the fund balance on July 24 for classroom furniture, teacher desks and a cheerleading mat.

The motions covered three items: classroom furniture from Virgo Inc. under the OMNIA contract for an amount not to exceed $83,800 to outfit several classrooms (world language and ELA classrooms cited as early targets); two teacher desks for CTE and ISE rooms not to exceed $1,792.44 total; and a cheerleading mat not to exceed $7,375.74. The committee described this as continuing a phased replacement of worn student desks and teacher furniture across the high school and noted prior rounds covered other classroom sets.

A committee member asked how many classrooms the new furniture would cover; staff estimated that the purchase would furnish about six classrooms and that with the prior rounds roughly one-third of the high school would have updated desks after this purchase. The committee approved the fund-balance purchases by voice vote and instructed facilities staff to coordinate delivery and installation.
