The commission approved a package of mayoral appointments to multiple city advisory boards.
The mayor nominated and the commission approved the following appointments: Clark Gerard and Andrea Yancey to the Airport Authority; Howard Davies to the Citizens and Police Community Relations board; Kathy Hamill and Bruce Austell to the Code Enforcement Board; Tiffany Davis and Tina Peak to the Historic District Regulatory Board; Michelle Threep, Dorinda Wells and Wanda Lawson to the Housing Authority; Mark Bennett and Scott Blackburn to the Planning and Zoning Board; Andrew Modis to the Recreation Committee; and Preston Troutman to the Tree Advisory Board.
Several nominees introduced themselves during the meeting. Andrew Modis described his service as chair of the recreation board and his interest in continuing; Scott Blackburn said he owns property and a business in the city and was seeking a seat on the planning and zoning board. Michelle Threep spoke about ongoing work with the Lake Wales Housing Authority and the impending Grove Manor demolition and redevelopment activity.
The commission moved to approve the slate; the motion carried by voice vote.
