The Winchester Planning and Zoning Commission on June 23 elected Will Platt as its new chair. The nomination followed a tribute to outgoing chair George Claussen for his years of service to the commission and to the town.

A member nominated Will Platt and the commission seconded the nomination; members then voted in favor. Commission members thanked George Claussen during the meeting remarks for his long tenure and leadership; Claussen was acknowledged though he was not present for the vote.

Commission leadership changes will take effect immediately; outgoing members and staff said they will continue to assist the new chair during the transition and work through items scheduled for upcoming meetings.
