Board approves upgrades for holiday market huts, awards two vendor contracts

The Carmel Board of Public Works and Safety approved two add-on contracts on Aug. 6 to refurbish and expand the city’s holiday market huts. Office of Corporation Counsel representative Sergei Grichuk said the contracts, taken as add-ons, fund lumber and hut-frame work to update the structures.
Grichuk told the board the work is intended to update and expand the market huts. The first contract, Hollingsworth Saw Mill, is for $102,598 to supply lumber and parts. The second contract, MOUG Industries, is for $132,750 to supply hot frames for the huts. "These two can be acted on together," Grichuk said.
A board member moved to act on the two items together; the motion was seconded and the board approved both contracts on voice vote. Grichuk and city staff said Chris Levinson was available to answer technical questions about the hut retrofits.
Officials characterized the work as upgrades and expansion; the board approved the contracts as add-ons and did not discuss construction schedules or vendor delivery timelines in detail during the meeting.
