The Village of Brown Deer Board of Trustees approved a special-events application for an outdoor event scheduled Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025.
Village staff told the board the application was in the packet and that, per village noise rules, staff recommended the event finish at 9 p.m. to allow takedown before the 10 p.m. noise ordinance period. Applicant representatives Alicia and Anthony told the board the applicant intended to use 11 a.m. for setup, start the event at 1 p.m., end at 9 p.m., and use the hour afterward for cleanup: “The 11AM is really for setup...we would look to start the event at 1PM. And then, we would end the event at 9PM and have, like, an hour for cleanup and breakdown,” Alicia said.
Organizers estimated total attendance of about 300 people over the course of the event rather than simultaneously, and staff said street parking and a public lot near the library would provide additional capacity. Trustee Johnson asked about security; applicants said the proposal includes both a police officer to check on the event and private security staff. Tyler explained the village’s fee structure covers officer time required onsite.
The packet included a site plan and a vendor list that applicants said was the full list as of the meeting; applicants said they would notify staff immediately if vendors changed. Organizers also said they had coordinated with nearby businesses to reduce disruption.
Trustee Thompson moved to approve the special-event application; Trustee Griggs seconded. The motion carried on a voice vote.
Staff said they will coordinate officer scheduling and final vendor confirmations and that applicants are responsible for any officer costs and compliance with site and noise rules.
