Pride event and back-to-school bash draw visitors and volunteers to Goldendale

Councilmembers and staff praised recent community events that organizers said brought visitors and spending to Goldendale. Councilmember Ellie Casey, who helped organize a Pride event, displayed a state map showing attendees’ home locations and reported hotel bookings and attendance counts.
Casey said vendors came from around Washington and that at least eight hotel rooms were rented, possibly up to 10. "We had roughly I think we did our average of 325... That was a total of 249," Casey said, describing overall attendance and the count of bracelet check-ins for age categories. She said the bracelet tally did not include vendors or attendees who arrived after the welcome table closed.
Council members also spoke about a back-to-school bash held the prior Saturday. Meeting comments said organizers and volunteers distributed about 350 donated backpacks filled with school supplies; the city and volunteers were singled out for organizing and staffing the event. No budget amendments or grant approvals related to these events were made during the meeting.
