Council approves fall event street closures; Alderman Bateman abstains on Up and Smoke amendment

Items approved included a request from Touch a Truck to close various city streets for Lincoln Touch a Truck on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.; a request from Lincoln Community High School boosters to close Wyatt Avenue from Kickapoo Street to Lincoln Community High School on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. for homecoming decorating and whitewashing; and an amendment from the Up and Smoke Committee to the prior April 7, 2025 approval to allow additional street closures for Up and Smoke activities.
Alderman O'Donoghue moved to approve the consent agenda and Alderman Anderson seconded. Alderman Bateman said he would abstain "because of the up and smoke vote." The roll call recorded Anderson yes; Bateman abstain; Sanders yes; Parrott yes; Downs yes; Clemens yes; O'Donoghue yes.
Ending: The approved street closures will allow the listed fall events to proceed with city-authorized road restrictions; event organizers are responsible for implementing required traffic controls and safety measures per city rules.
