City reports progress on Caine Park ADA ramp and Denison turf project, sets mid-September completion for ramp

Director Gonzales provided construction updates on park projects at the Aug. 4 council meeting, saying underground work on the Caine Park ADA ramp and hillside seating should finish this week and that the project is on track for mid-September completion. “We're overall, we're looking at a completion date of mid September for everything,” Director Gonzales said, adding that grading and paving subcontractor coordination were underway, retaining wall installation was about to begin and that the ADA bathroom project at Caine Park will start soon under capital projects management. Gonzales also updated the council on Denison Park: the turf installation was finishing the day of the meeting, with the first high school practice scheduled for 10 a.m. the following morning and a free soccer clinic at 6 p.m. followed by a field dedication at 7 p.m. He said the asphalt curing period for new pickleball courts is 45 days before painting can begin and that contractors broke ground on a baseball blast pad with concrete pour expected at the end of the next week. Council members thanked staff for the updates and asked questions about how much of the sledding hill would be preserved during the Caine Park work; Gonzales said areas marked with green soil barriers would be preserved for the sledding hill.
