The Tahlequah City Council voted to deny all bids for the Cherokee Bills baseball concession stand after staff reported the six bids received were substantially higher than anticipated. Special projects staff recommended rejecting the bids to allow the city and the architect to pare nonessential items and reissue the project, and said contractors had been open to rebidding. Staff said they expect to reduce the lowest bid by roughly $200,000 through scope adjustments and planned to rebid the project within about 30 days. “They were very favorable in rebidding this project…we're hoping for around $200,000 less than what came in at the lowest,” a staff presenter said. The council approved the recommendation to deny the bids; no construction contract was awarded and staff will return with revised specifications and a new bidding timeline.
