Board approves personnel items, posts assistant treasurer role and ratifies 20‑day unpaid suspension for bus driver

Cabell County’s board approved professional and service personnel items at the Aug. 5 meeting, including administrative appointments and corrections to previously published personnel transfers. Superintendent Hardesty announced new assignments: Cammy McCourt will serve as principal at Central City; Shauna Smith will transfer to Hunter Deeds Middle School; and Whitney Sted will become assistant director at Milton Elementary.

Hardesty also described a proposed salary‑schedule clean‑up and the establishment of a pay schedule for a new assistant treasurer position in the business office. The superintendent said the assistant treasurer would relieve workload, oversee payroll and employee benefits, provide training across the county and modernize business‑office processes. The board was asked to accept the salary‑schedule change so the position can be posted.

During executive session the board considered employee discipline items. After returning to open session, the superintendent recommended that the board ratify a 20‑day unpaid suspension for Matthew Pritchard, a bus driver. The board approved the suspension by voice vote.

Clerical corrections were also made to the professional and service personnel listings (several resignations removed from section 7 and one transfer corrected: Madeline Chappell’s assignment listed as Huntington Middle School rather than Huntington East Middle School). No additional disciplinary details were disclosed in open session.
