Board appoints Elizabeth Spilde as chief deputy county attorney

Sherburne County commissioners voted to appoint Elizabeth Spilde as chief deputy county attorney following a recommendation from the county attorney. The appointment came after an internal review of office structure and an interview process. The motion to approve the appointment was made and seconded by commissioners; the board voted in favor and congratulated Spilde.

County leadership said Spilde has worked with the county attorney's office for roughly 20 years, left briefly for outside positions and returned; the county attorney indicated a need for additional internal structure after a memorandum of understanding for civil and criminal leads dissolved earlier in the year. The appointment was effective immediately, as announced at the meeting. Several assistant county attorneys were present in the chamber in support of the appointment.

The board took no other personnel actions at that time; this item followed earlier announcements and preceded additional agenda items. Spilde declined to make extended remarks during the meeting; commissioners congratulated her and welcomed the internal office structure change.
