Members of the School Committee said Aug. 5 that the vocational planning committee is preparing outreach and informational materials ahead of the town meeting vote on whether Pembroke will join the South Shore Vocational Technical Regional School District.
Committee members said they have been meeting informally with Tom Hickey (South Shore VoTech representative) and other stakeholders and that the committee placed a placeholder article on the town meeting warrant. The district will hold a public forum at 5:30 p.m. next Tuesday in Room 102 at the community center to present information and take questions; the administration also plans additional sessions (including one with the Council on Aging) and will publish an FAQ and presentation materials on the district website.
The administration said it is drafting a regional agreement that will need review by the regional planning committee and the school committee before the town meeting. The expectation stated at the meeting was that the committee would likely bring the regional agreement forward for consideration before town meeting so voters will have the document that will be voted on.
