Cabarrus County commissioners approved acceptance of $828,210.15 in supplemental funding from the state 9‑1‑1 board to replace radio consoles and make other eligible refurbishments at the county's primary public safety answering point. County staff said the funds must be used within the current fiscal year.
A county representative explained the award covers eligible expenses for consoles, furniture and other center improvements. Because the work must be completed in the fiscal year, the board suspended the rules and approved a budget amendment to allocate the funds; the motions to suspend rules and to approve the budget amendment passed 4–0.
Commissioners moved the acceptance forward immediately so procurement and installation work can proceed in time to meet the fiscal‑year spending requirement.
