Planning services reports fairgrounds survey responses, upcoming zoning reviews and RFQ for development rules

Denise Testa, director of Planning Services, briefed the Medina County Board of Commissioners on planning commission scheduling, zoning items and the fairgrounds strategic plan.
Testa said the August planning commission meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the administration building and that staff will review a concept plan from Sharon Township for September. She listed text amendments in Homer and Chatham townships and a map amendment in Brunswick Hills as items expected for upcoming hearings.
On the fairgrounds strategic plan, Testa said survey responses totaled 727 and staff will schedule focus groups, including an additional community-leader group, to gather input. Testa said the survey link is available on the county planning webpage and the commissioners’ site.
Testa also said staff will likely present a resolution next week to issue a request for qualifications (RFQ) for review of development agreements and subdivision regulations. She said the Lodi community development block grant (CDBG) project for 2024 is complete and came in under budget, and that she will present any required CDBG budget amendments to the commission.
Implementation notes: Testa said she will work with county staff to schedule focus groups and will reach out to commissioners for recommendations for community leaders to invite. She said planning staff are coordinating with the building department, health department and prosecutor as part of zoning and inspector meetings.
