County approves Family First and Catholic Charities service coordination agreements

The Medina County Board of Commissioners approved two social-services contracts: a service coordinator agreement with the Family First Council not to exceed $67,000 for the July–June fiscal year and an intake, referral and service coordination contract with Catholic Charities for $280,000.

Finance director Brett Thomas presented the items. "Our third resolution is an agreement for a service coordinator between Family First Council and the Medina County Health Department for the amount not to exceed 67,000 for the next fiscal year," Thomas said. He described the Family First arrangement as a July-through-June contract.

Thomas also introduced the Catholic Charities contract, saying "Catholic Charities runs a large portion of that program and they're a huge asset to it. The amount for this contract is 280,000 for the year to provide the intake and referral services." The commissioners approved both resolutions by roll call.

The meeting record identifies Catholic Charities as an existing service partner and the contracts were presented as annualized agreements for the upcoming fiscal year. The county did not provide detailed line-item budgets or program performance metrics during the meeting; Thomas said the Family First contract is for a service coordinator role and Catholic Charities will provide intake and referral services but did not specify the number of clients to be served in the contract remarks.

Implementation notes: both contracts were presented as time-limited (July through June); county staff will manage contract execution and renewal on an annual cycle.
