Shannon Harris, a participant in the MCBDD Leadership Academy, attended and received the recognition on behalf of the academy.
The proclamation described the restroom as serving individuals with developmental differences, seniors and others with mobility or complex medical needs and said the facility will help remove barriers to public participation. The proclamation also thanked the Medina County Board of Commissioners for setting "a powerful precedent for the future public infrastructure."
The commissioners acknowledged the recognition during the meeting and said similar accessible facilities are planned in other county and municipal buildings. "Appreciate the recognition," one commissioner said after the proclamation was read.
