Parks department issues RFP timetable for citywide master plan, requests minimum six community engagement days

Parks staff told the Park Board that the department has issued a request for proposals for a citywide park master plan and that proposals close on Oct. 23.
Reggie (Park director) said the department expects the selected vendor to conduct a minimum of six community-engagement days and to represent the city’s council districts in outreach. "We're asking for a minimum of six community engagement days," he said, adding the goal of getting feedback from where people already are.
Staff described the plan as a 10-to-15-year blueprint that will guide park investments, asking that the RFP emphasize community engagement and alignment with industry standards. Reggie said the procurement had a robust pre-bid conference with about a dozen vendors logged in and that the department is following up on written questions from prospective vendors.
Next steps: staff will review proposals after the closing date and present a recommended selection process that includes city, parks and legal representatives and other stakeholders.
