City public‑works staff reported progress July 24 on the 190th Street signal and corridor improvements: utility coordination is complete, KDOT has approved the study, and the city will submit an application for a $2 million grant tied to construction. Staff said Lamprey and Anderson (engineering) are finalizing plans and the city hopes to put the work out to bid in September.
“...we received approval from KDOT, for the study. So we received the official approval,” a city staff member said, and added that the city will submit its grant application and accept KDOT’s reimbursement timing. Staff said the design set will include signal plans and poles and that KDOT’s review of the full plan set will take approximately six weeks.
Council members asked for a public update and for the city to post preliminary plans online; staff said it would publish a project snapshot on the city website and provide an update at the next meeting. Councilmembers also requested pothole repairs along 190th Street between U.S.‑169 and Woodland prior to the larger reconstruction; staff agreed to patch those sections promptly.
Separately, staff reported the city’s street maintenance program is near completion and that a county-conducted chip seal work on Webster occurred without prior notice from the county. Staff committed to patching the worst potholes on 190th before major construction begins.
