A City of Nevada official told the Story County Board of Supervisors on Aug. 5 that ARPA funds were used to pay for a sewer line and water taps that enabled a housing project on the city’s south side. The city representative said four houses are completed — three financed under the city project and one acquired through a Story County Community Housing Trust arrangement — and that the overall plan envisions about 12 houses on the site. The sewer work connects along D Avenue between 10th and 11th Streets, enabling the water taps and building activity, the city said. City staff said the funds portion is complete and that the next steps depend on finalizing building readiness and on plans to use low- and moderate-income (LMI) funding for at least 50% of the houses. Supervisors asked clarifying questions about the sewer location and thanked the city for using ARPA funds to leverage additional housing production. No board action was taken; the report was informational.
