Supervisors approve increase to development services inspection fees required by state agreements

The Cochise County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a change Aug. 5 to the county's Development Services inspection fee schedule to align with the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) fee updates.
Miss McLaughlin presented the item and said state law requires the county to charge the same inspection amounts as ADOH where the county holds inspection agreements. "Arizona Department of Housing updates its fee schedule roughly annually ... we're required to charge the exact same amount as ADOH by state law in the inspection agreements," she said.
The item, filed as Resolution 25-23, would increase mobile-home inspection fees by $50, raise factory-built building fees by $1 per linear square foot, and increase inspection and extension fees by $10 to $50. McLaughlin said the fee changes were posted May 29 as required and that fees are user-paid charges intended to recoup inspection and administrative costs.
Supervisor Crosby asked whether the county still performs inspections for the city of Douglas; McLaughlin confirmed the county does inspections in Douglas as well as Tombstone and Benson under agreements. Crosby said the arrangement effectively redistributes inspection work and associated fees to Douglas.
The motion to adopt Resolution 25-23 passed 3-0.
Ending: County staff said the amended schedule is posted online; board members had no further questions and closed the public hearing before voting.
