Craven County commissioners on Aug. 4 approved a $94,171 grant rollover for the sheriff’s office to continue a detention-center substance-abuse initiative and reentry services.
Tony Cummings presented the request to roll remaining FY24 grant funds into the current year. He told the board the money will be used for clinicians supporting the initiative, the “Journeys to Success” program, Hope Mission boarding and to fund a new reentry position tied to the grant’s goals.
The board approved the rollover by roll call. County staff did not provide a detailed staffing chart in the meeting minutes, but said the grant will cover clinician costs and a reentry position as part of the jail-based program.
Formal action: the roll-call vote was recorded as unanimous.
