Elections Director Susan Williams and IT staff told the board the laptops run Windows 10, which will no longer receive support after October 2025, and that the State Board has required secure, supported devices for elections operations. Staff said the existing laptops are about five years old and that the replacement is necessary to ensure election security and compliance.
Williams said not all 84 laptops are deployed on election day; several serve as spares and backups. She said the replacements should be adequate for the county’s current operations and that additional purchases would be needed only if the county expanded polling operations or staffing. The board approved the amendment by roll call.
Formal action: the board approved the $59,388 budget amendment; the roll-call votes were recorded as unanimous.
