The Saint Louis Park City Council acknowledged a donation from nVent of 30 trees to be planted in Wolf Park and maintained by TreeTrust in honor of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman. Council members described the donation as a tribute and noted Wolf Park is a well‑used park near the recreation center.
Mayor Mohammed read the thank‑you and explained the Hortman family requested trees be planted in her memory. "The donation was — we are planting 30 trees in Wolf Park, and this is in honor of Representative, former House Speaker Melissa Hortman, and her husband, Mark Hortman," the mayor said on the record. Council member Parker added that nVent is a Saint Louis Park business that donated the trees and noted the location in Ward 2 is highly visible to visitors to the water park and rec center.
Council members thanked nVent and TreeTrust and said they looked forward to visiting the planted trees as they mature. No formal council action was required beyond accepting and announcing the donation on the record.
