Pitt County EMS receives continuing education institution designation to provide county-specific training

Pitt County Emergency Medical Services has been designated as an EMS continuing-education institution, county staff reported during the county manager's report on Aug. 4.
The county manager's report said the designation enables Pitt County EMS to deliver continuing education training and recredentialing to county EMS personnel tailored to local system needs and recommended by the county EMS medical director, Dr. Kitsch. County staff said the training will be open to all Pitt County system providers at no cost and that the designation is expected to help employee retention and recruitment.
Staff clarified this continuing-education designation is separate from initial EMS training provided by Pitt Community College; the county's program is for continuing education and recredentialing, not initial certification. No board action was required; the designation was reported as an informational item in the manager's report.
