The Planning and Zoning Commission opened a public hearing on proposed amendments to the Code of Ordinances (Chapter 46, Article 4) to add district regulations for an A‑1 Agricultural Zoning District and then voted to postpone consideration of that item and three related items to the commission’s August 19 meeting.
A staff member recommended postponement of items 6, 7, 8 and 9 to allow additional preparation and public outreach. After closing the public hearing, the commission approved a motion to postpone the four items to Aug. 19; the motion was made by Commissioner David Estella and seconded by Commissioner Julie Dominguez and carried unanimously.
Staff told the commission it planned additional meetings and outreach to address questions and to circulate materials in advance; the city will notify interested parties of the new hearing date. The public hearing concerned proposed zoning language to establish A‑1 (agricultural) district regulations in the City of Socorro zoning code.
