Lincoln Elementary seeks district funds to send staff to Behavior Solutions training

Lincoln Elementary Principal Jennifer Talish and Assistant Principal Ben Erickson requested board support to send school-level staff to a Behavior Solutions professional-development conference in Houston. Erickson said the training, provided by Solution Tree, would teach staff to analyze behavior data and design tiered interventions focused on prevention and remediation. "This conference will help us to learn how to look at our behavior data and then create an action plan that really focuses on prevention, intervention, and remediation," Erickson said. Talish described implementation goals and district sharing: "We're hoping that it'll be a train the trainer process so that we're able to come back as a team and then look at our SIP goal... then train our staff throughout the year," she said. Talish added that the district's social-emotional learning coordinator, Sarah Bates, would attend to support potential district-level rollout. Administrators told the board the request does not require additional district funds: the school will use its 1003a Title I school-improvement funds and the teacher vacancy grant to cover teacher costs. Board members asked whether bringing four staff from one building would benefit other schools; presenters said they plan to share training through principal and AP meetings and building-level PLCs. Board members gave consensus to bring the item back as an action item for formal approval and to proceed with planning; no formal vote was taken at this meeting.
