Council adopts ordinance to update building inspection and zoning fee schedules

The Monona City Council on Aug. 5 approved an ordinance amending the city’s fee, fine and penalty schedules for building inspection and zoning, following a second reading and a roll-call vote. The ordinance, brought forward by the Planning and Community Development Director, amends chapters 175 and 480 of the municipal code to revise building inspection and zoning fees. Passage follows the second-reading procedure required for ordinance changes. Council members heard no additional questions during the second reading. After a motion and second, the council conducted a roll-call vote, with Alder Bernstein, Alder Rademacher, Alder Wood and Alder DePula recorded as voting “aye.” The mayor declared the motion passed. The ordinance will take effect per the city’s normal ordinance-adoption schedule. City staff characterized the item as unfinished business carried to a second reading; no public hearing or changes to the version presented at second reading were recorded. Council members were invited to direct any follow-up questions to the Planning and Community Development Director between meetings. No appeals or additional conditions were recorded at the time of adoption.
