The Wayne County Board of Education on Aug. 4 approved a series of finance committee recommendations, including authorizing a vendor to digitize student records, accepting donations and approving a background‑check services contract pending legal review.
The finance committee reviewed purchase orders, donations and vendor bids at its July meeting. Staff briefed the committee on procurement estimates to digitize student records and reported that VRC submitted the lowest bid; the committee recommended VRC and the full board approved moving forward with the vendor. The board also approved a contract with a vendor, BIB, to provide employment background checks for district staff; the transcript records that the BIB contract approval was contingent on final legal review.
Two donations of $500 each — one from GMP Southeast for Spring Creek Elementary general use and one from Norway alumni for Norway Middle School improvement — were noted and accepted. Board members also approved routine purchase orders that had cleared committee review.
The finance committee chair asked for the board’s unanimous approval on the grouped finance items; the transcript shows the board voted in favor.
