Commission signs off on several maintenance contracts; other repairs tabled

The Greene County Commission approved several maintenance and repair actions while tabling others to obtain more information or paperwork.
The board approved a contract with JMP to install a sump pump in the jail elevator shaft after recent rains exposed the lack of a sump pump; commissioners were told the lower of two quotes was from a local business and was about $2,500 less than the other quote. The commission recorded the purchase will be paid from the corrections facility fund.
On courthouse facilities, commissioners authorized replacing carpet in a control room with vinyl tile and empowered the department head (Linda) to choose a mid-range product, including a Flooring America product with a 20-year warranty, or a similar product at roughly the same cost. Marvin said the tear-out and installation cost for the mid-range product is “approximately $3,000,” and the money will come from Kimcap funds.
The commission ratified a previously signed signage contract for waiver/wafer signage that had been signed after appropriations advertising. The board tabled the community corrections restroom repair and concrete repairs for the annex and the public defender until next meeting so staff can obtain paperwork and comparable estimates.
