The Village Board voted Aug. 4 to approve a plan commission recommendation to vacate a 20-foot-wide by 117-foot-long east–west alley north of 7625 Parkside Avenue and south of 5550 Howard Street.
Plan Commission Chair Paul Luke described the petition from MD Private Services LLC and William (Billy) Sadowski to vacate the alley in an M2 light industrial zoning district. The petition calls for conveying the southern 10 feet of the alley to MD Private Services LLC for use as a driveway and parking area for 7625 Parkside Avenue, and the northern 10 feet to Sadowski for his landscaping business.
Luke told the board the alley currently has a crushed gravel surface, has been used for employee parking and vehicle storage, and that village-owned land contains no public utilities within the subject site, so no public-utility easements would be required. Staff recommended the vacation.
Trustee Lisa Levy moved to concur with the Plan Commission recommendation; Trustee Keith Robinson seconded. The clerk called the roll and recorded ayes; the motion passed.
