Council told staff will seek two-year, $150,000 on‑call survey and mapping contract

Deputy Director Christopher Stenger told the Committee of the Whole that Public Works proposes a two‑year on‑call survey and mapping services agreement with David Evans and Associates for an amount not to exceed $150,000, with an optional one‑year renewal, and asked that the item be placed on the Sept. 2 consent agenda.

The request follows a solicitation and a qualifications‑based ranking of consultants. Stenger said the city initially selected two firms but was informed one had closed and could not accept the award, so staff offered the work to the next highest‑scoring firm to “maintain continuity and capacity for on call services.” He told the council “no contract was ever signed with the original firm” and there are “no outstanding items or invoices” with that firm.

Council members asked clarifying questions about whether there were two contracts under discussion; Stenger said he would follow up and confirm if there were any separate agreements. Council member Nueva Camino asked for that follow‑up; Stenger agreed to check and report back. No council member objected to placing the item on the Sept. 2 consent agenda.

The request is an administrative procurement action to ensure survey and mapping capacity; staff said the contract award will be memorialized on the September 2 consent calendar so the council can approve it as part of the business meeting consent items.

The committee did not take a formal roll‑call vote in committee; staff will present the agreement on the consent agenda for council action in September.
