The White County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 4 approved Ordinance 2025-31 CM to rezone property to allow a monopole cell tower proposed by Select Towers 2, LLC, passing the measure 3-0.
County planning staff recommended the rezone, saying it "is relatively modest" and that the zoning change "does conform to the Wabash Tippenoe Township's plan." The staff presentation said the request would allow installation of a cell phone tower to expand coverage in that part of the county.
Bridal Ramirez, representing Select Towers, told the commissioners, "We are here to rezone and build a monopole, structure to provide additional service to the area. That's why we're having the reason." Ramirez gave a business address in Indianapolis and answered commissioners' questions about the proposal.
Randy Lauer, superintendent of the Tippie County Parks Department, asked whether construction would affect a nearby parking area used for a county feast on another county property adjacent to the proposed tower site. Lauer asked, "Is that still gonna be available for parking?" and noted concern about a driveway close to the proposed site.
The board heard no other public opposition. A motion to hear and consider Ordinance 2025-31 CM was made and seconded; following the public discussion the ordinance passed 3-0.
The approval was limited to the rezoning request as described to the board; no construction permit or final site plan was adopted during the hearing.
The ordinance will be recorded with the county clerk and supersede prior zoning status for the parcel if all administrative requirements are met.
