Greensville County Water & Sewer Authority approves repaving contract, chemical supplier awards and adopts FY26 budget calendar

The Greensville County Water & Sewer Authority, meeting as part of the Aug. 4 session, approved a contract award and several administrative items tied to water and wastewater operations.

Authority staff recommended awarding a $10,250 contract to REMAC for repaving four locations in the Town of Jarrett where water‑main repairs left road surfaces needing repaving (post office area, near the fire department, Lincoln Street and South Braxton in front of Town Hall). Staff said the authority solicited five estimates and received three proposals; the authority will fund the work from its fund balance and awarded the contract to the lowest responsive bidder.

The authority also completed its annual chemical procurement process for water and wastewater treatment facilities. Bids were publicly opened July 23 as advertised; staff reported one discrepancy involving block weights for bacterial blocks and stated they determined the successful bidder based on price per pound. The authority recommended accepting the low bids and authorizing contract execution by the authority director or designee.

Finally, the authority adopted the FY26 budget calendar; staff noted the water and sewer fiscal year begins Oct. 1 and provided dates for budget presentations and meetings, with the first proposed budget presentation set for Aug. 26 at 2 p.m.
