The New Hanover County Schools Board of Education approved the district’s Title I application Tuesday after staff presented an updated version that added detail and a school-by-school breakdown of parent and family engagement funds. The board voted 7–0 to accept the revised application.
Assistant superintendent for federal programs described added narrative and minor numeric adjustments tied to final carryover calculations. Staff also said the revised packet includes more detailed descriptions of pre-K programming, parent involvement funding, and how the district plans to spend Title I dollars.
Board member Dr. Tim Merrick asked clarifying questions and expressed confidence in staff’s handling of the application; outside auditors and state reviewers had previously found the district’s Title I administration to be in good order, staff said. The board approved the application by roll call, 7–0.
