The Statesboro mayor and city council on Aug. 5 approved one-year renewals of the city's property and casualty and workers' compensation insurance policies.
Staff reported that the property and casualty renewal is $1,330,939 with Travelers, and the workers' compensation renewal is $561,507 with Bitco. Staff said the insurance programs were solicited to get the best market coverage and that the policies will be for a one-year term.
Mr. Pitt, staff member, presented the figures and said, "We just can't live without insurance," adding that staff have been shopping the markets to secure coverage. The council approved the renewals by voice vote; transcript does not include a roll-call tally.
The renewals are routine annual actions to maintain coverage for city assets and employees. Staff did not present changes in coverage limits or deductibles during the Aug. 5 meeting minutes recorded in the transcript.
