The Board of Public Works opened quotations for police squad upfits on Aug. 5 and asked staff to review two vendor submissions covering single-cell, K-9 and full dual prisoner configurations. The board did not take final action and directed staff to review the submissions and bring them back for a future decision.
The board recorded two vendors submitting quotations: Gencom and Belco Vehicle Solutions. According to meeting remarks, Gencom submitted pricing for “single cell, K9, and full dual,” while Belco Vehicle Solutions submitted pricing for “single cell prisoner, K9 single cell prisoner, and full dual prisoner.” Board members said staff would review the two quotations and report back.
No dollar amounts or award recommendations were discussed at the Aug. 5 meeting, and no motion to award a contract was made. The discussion was limited to opening and noting the quotations and instructing review.
Board members explicitly framed the item as a review action rather than a contract award: “You’re gonna have to review these,” a member said. The board’s next step is for staff to return with a recommendation after reviewing vendor documentation.
The matter will return to a future meeting when staff completes its review and any procurement checks.
