Commissioners approve RFP for Road & Bridge building renovations and add outside reviewers to evaluation panel

BRYAN, Texas — At its Aug. 5 meeting the Brazos County Commissioner's Court approved permission to advertise RFP CIP 25-527 for Road and Bridge office building renovations and amended the RFP's evaluation committee to add external engineering reviewers.
Commissioner Brown asked whether money for renovations was already budgeted. County staff (identified in the record as Miss Payne) said $300,000 had been budgeted for a former agriculture renovation and that some of that money had already been used for architecture and design work. Payne said funds budgeted for a separate renovation (recorded in the items as "Rotem Bridal renovation") were "2.4" but did not specify units; she offered to provide actuals on request.
Brown also said the Road & Bridge buildings were "deplorable" and urged a renovated building as recognition for good work. Brown asked for monthly statements from Road & Bridge listing their activities and materials; the court did not adopt a formal reporting requirement at the meeting.
Commissioner Nettles moved to amend the evaluation committee because the original committee had three voting members, two of whom were from Road & Bridge; he proposed adding Wyatt Hahn and Tom Green and Company Engineering to balance the panel. The amendment was moved and seconded and the court approved the amendment and then approved the RFP with the amended evaluation committee.
